Hair Extensions – The Many Options

Article by Aloysius Aucoin

There are many variables when it comes to getting hair extensions. First, there are two different types of hair you can use. Synthetic hair is made of synthetic fibers that are fashioned to look like hair. This option is less expensive than human hair and it does not need to be washed as frequently to maintain its shine. However, synthetic hair has less style options because it cannot be exposed to heat from blow dryers or curling irons; exposure to heat could cause the hair to melt.

Human hair is actual human hair that is cut and cleaned for reuse as hair extensions. Most cosmetologists recommend human hair because they are longer-lasting and more natural-looking. However, human sourced extensions are more expensive and require more maintenance, and must be washed at least twice a week to maintain its luster and shine. If you have never had hair extensions, it would be smart to start out using synthetic materials because they are much less expensive, and most people do not want to spend too much money on a hair style before they know they will like it.

Once you have chosen between using synthetic and human hair, you must then choose the method in which you would like to attach the extension to your head. There are also several methods for doing this. The weaving method is a two-step process. First, the hair stylist braids the hair closely to the head. Then, they use a needle and thread to weave the hair extensions into the hair. This method can be a little time-consuming compared to other methods, yet it is more natural-looking than other methods. Clip-on and glue-based extensions are the least time-consuming. However, these options tend to look the least natural-looking and do not last as long as the other methods. The final method for attaching hair extensions is the non-glue method. This method is high-tech and time-consuming. The stylist uses a Microchet, a patented threading technique, to thread the hair extensions on strand at a time. Needless to say, this method is longer-lasting, although it can take up to a week to add the hair in.

Whether it is to add a little stylish flair to short hair or to fill in thinning hair, hair extensions are a good option. However, there are many other options to choose from as you look into adding extensions. This is not a easy, simple task. Therefore, if you are considering them, it is best to see a licensed and professional hair stylist.

Hair Removal Options – 5 Methods to Consider

Article by Jenifer Reid

For men, there are numerous hair removal options available and you may not have realized it. Whether you just want to groom a bit better or you want to reduce an excessive hair problem, men can look and feel great when they use the right hair removal procedure.Take into consideration the following options. Determine which one may help you to solve your unwanted hair concerns.

#1: Laser Hair Removal

This method can become a permanent solution for hair removal. It is more expensive than other methods because it is done within the confines of a skin technician’s office. It may require several treatments.

The technician uses a high-powered laser to damage the follicle that produces hair. Once damaged, the follicle no longer produces hair. Over time you have a permanent solution. It can be effective in most areas of the body. You can thin out hair using this method or remove it all.

#2: Shaving

You have done it many times, but it is a hassle. For some men, subtle is back the next day. Shaving is the least expensive option initially, but when you add up the time and material costs over a year or more, it is expensive. Shaving is a fast solution, though.

#3: Hair Removal Creams

Another of the hair removal options for men is the use of hair removal creams. These creams destroy the hair itself and thus create a clean, smooth skin surface. Some products work better than others do, but some people may not have good results with these products.

They are far less expensive than laser treatments, but this method does not last either. You may see less hair over a two-week period, which makes it a better option than shaving.

#4: Waxing

Perhaps the most painful of all options, waxing provides a middle road in terms of costs. It, too, lasts up to a few weeks, and is not a permanent solution to hair growth. This procedure will remove all or most of the hair in an area.

Use it for large areas you need to remove hair from, such as your back. It does cause a significant amount of initial pain that lasts seconds, just like getting your hair pulled.

#5: Electrolysis

The only FDA recognized method of permanent hair loss is electrolysis. In this method, a technician runs a device containing a very thin needle over the skin. The needle enters the hair and electrifies, killing the cells that grow hair.

The process does take time to remove hair completely, but once done, the hair is unable to grow again. Electrolysis can be more expensive because you need a technician to perform it.

In any of these circumstances, men can lose hair. Hair removal options can range widely based on budget and desired outcome. If you think laser hair removal, for example, is too expensive, do consider the long-term costs associated with waxing or shaving.

It becomes far more affordable then. In many cases, these procedures can produce the lasting results you want and need to create smooth skin.

Natural Hair Extensions Installation Options – The Basics

Women have a deep and intimate relationship with their hair. Ask the average American woman how she feels about taking care of her hair each day, and up to what extent is she willing to take care of it, and you will get similar answers from one woman to the next. They will do pretty much anything and everything just to make their hair as glorious and as lovely as they can be. The hair can be the crowning glory of any woman, and to some point the hair is sometimes considered as the ultimate measure of a woman’s beauty. Thus, it is no surprise that women will pay huge amounts of money just to pamper it. It is also no surprise that women will even go as far as having natural hair extensions to make their hair even more stylish. For more information on just how women have natural extensions installed to their actual hair, all you have to do is read on.

The golden rule about natural hair extensions is that the shade of the natural extensions must be exactly, or close to, the actual hair of the woman. While it may be true that some women already use extensions that are far from their natural hair’s color, it is also true that in order to remove any distinction between the hair and the extensions, the extensions have to blend well with the actual hair. However, sewing in hair weave is the greatest and accountable way to add volume as well as style to your hair with hair extension. Though it takes longer to have the weaves sewn in to your existing hair but it also lasts longer and can provide you comprehensive satisfaction for longer. A hair weave can help you achieve the fabulous look you want, with Sew-in weave hair extensions, without disturbing your existing natural locks. It is also a great way of covering up thinning hair, as hair weaves are also meant to add volume to the hair. Moreover, hair extensions through Sew-in weave methodology are also a stronger and adoptable option than wigs for an ideal appearance.

The different methodologies mainly depend upon the personal preferences; some like to choose Sewn-in Weft technique that is extremely secure track of hair extension and used to stitch wefts of hair into your own hair through a basket hair stitch technique! In this hair extension technique wefts are attached to your head by sewing them to a tiny braid that runs horizontally all around the back of your head. The tracks are applied in the middle of your scalp beneath your hairline so that you can’t see them directly. Also the front area of your own hair covers the hair extensions making the extensions completely indistinguishable. Once all the braids are done, the wefts are gently sewn to them and then your own hair is blended with as well as combed over the extensions. The biggest and apparent advantage of Sewn-in Weft technique is extremely low maintenance to look after. It is more suited to normal thickness to thick hair types and lasts longer.

Fusion hair extensions or you say Keratin tipped extensions is another successfully technique that is perfect for people who feel uncomfortable with readymade hair. Fusion hair extensions could last longer (up to four to six months) when applied by a professional, experienced, expert and when maintained properly. In this method keratin tipped fusion hair extensions are meticulously attached to your hair by undergoing a procedure commonly known as “fusion bonding”. This method works by “fusing” the extensions with keratin proteins from your natural hair – strand by strand. The weft is then attached to the roots of your hair using a heated adhesive stick and bonding glue that are especially engineered specifically for fusion hair extensions.

To install natural hair extensions, one must use a comb and leave it at the top of the woman’s head. This spot is where the parting will be. From this point, make an extension of the parting up to the mid ear level. After establishing a few rows, the extension can then be installed, making sure they blend will with the actual hair. Continue doing this until the last strands of the natural extensions are blended well.

Today, natural hair extension is extremely simple to attain. Cost Hair Transplantation: What are Your Options?

Hair loss is not easy to deal with. People suffering from this condition go through a lot because of the unattractive appearance thinning hair gives them. This is truly embarrassing for a lot of people but not a lot could afford expensive medical fees just to make their condition disappear. Because of this, they just let their hair be and let it fall naturally. In the advent of modern technology though, a lot of hair transplant procedures have improved. Also now, the cost hair transplantation has been significantly reduced.

When before, only the really rich people could afford to have their hair treated, now, there are also cheaper rates for people who do not have that much money. If you would look at it, the procedure is still expensive but the rates will be a lot cheaper in comparison to the previous ones.

If you are a hair loss sufferer yourself, you can try looking for a clinic in an area where there are a lot of clinics specializing in this field. That way, the fees and other charges would not be as high. The reason why the cost hair transplantation reaches around 00 to 000 is because of the manpower required for the procedure to be executed. About five to seven people work on a single patient including the surgeon and the assistants.

Another factor contributing to the computation of the fees is the surgeon’s expertise. You can expect that if the surgeon is not that qualified, the fees will be cheaper. However, if you entrust your hair to a surgeon who has not received the highest education and formal training, the process could be subject to having more side effects. You have to keep in mind that your safety and the effectiveness of the procedure should still be your top concerns.

There are two types of hair transplantation: Strip Harvesting and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). The first one has been around longer but FUE is preferred by more because it does not cause scars on the scalp and promises a shorter recovery period. The cost hair transplantation for this type of procedure is higher but the chances for normal hair growth on the bad scalp are better than the cheaper method.

Color options for your hair

Like Cheryl Crow croons “I think a change will do you good.” After a long winter, many of us are ready for a change. While a new hairstyle is always good, sometimes all you need is a bit of color. And great way to test at home is with a temporary hair color like Roux Fanci-Full Rinse.

With no ammonia or peroxide, Roux Fanci-Full Rinse is safe and non-damaging to your hair. It deposits haircolor instantaneously to even tones and remove brassiness. It will even blend away gray hairs. An added benefit of using the Roux Rinse is that they have an accompanying product, the Roux Fanci-Full Color Styling Mousse that enables you to add a little more color with every hair styling you do. The Rinse is available in 13 different hair colors, while the Mousse is available in seven.

To keep your hair color even longer, try using with a good color-depositing shampoo or conditioner. There are many out there, but our favorites are Altobella ClayPac ClayOns Color Shampoo and Claypac Color Conditioner.

The Claypac Shampoo combines a Multi-Vitamin blend of A, C, E and Pro-Vitamin B5 with vegetable proteins. It is a moisturizing shampoo that cleanses the hair and scalp while refreshing and brightening hair color.

The ClayPac Color Conditioners with color enhancers were designed to maintain the condition of the hair while being used on a daily basis without build up. ClayPac Color Conditioners will detangle, maintain brightness, tone and control fading.

So give it a shot…of hair color that is, to spruce up your hair style without sacrificing length.

Hair Loss: Causes and Treatment Options

Hair Loss: Causes and Treatment Options

Article by TJ Wi

Hair loss is a body change that a great number of people are alarmed about. Just like menopause, hair loss can easily reveal someone’s age. But unlike menopause, which can be kept from everyone but yourself, hair loss is often noticed by almost everyone. At around the age of 35, the consequences of hair loss can already be observed in men – it either happens that their hair line recedes in the front, or hair around the crown in the back starts thinning; some men experience both. It is stated in that 65% of all men suffer from hair loss and a majority of them have Male Pattern Baldness. Women however, are affected by hair loss in a separate way. Starting at the age of 30, their hair gradually thins out. By age 50 or not long after their menopausal period, the scalp becomes increasingly visible as a consequence of lessened hair strands all over the head.Hair loss can be caused by a number of factors. Aging and genetics are only a few. In men however, hair loss is usually caused by the dehydrotestosterone hormone, or DHT. The main purpose of DHT is to develop certain traits of men like deep voice, larger muscles, and mustache. Unforunately, it also produces Male Pattern Baldness in certain cases. What DHT does is it builds up and develops in the DHT receptors found around the hair follices. Once the hormone has established itself, it will start to destroy the hair and the follicle, making it hard for the hair to grow back. According to, men have a higher DHT production than women, hence, women do not really suffer from extreme hair loss like men do.DHT production increases as men get older, killing progressively more hair follicles. Too much production of DHT can lead to baldness. Even though everybody has DHT, most people produce the right amount of DHT. Luckily, they do not battle with radical hair loss.

Other factors for hair loss in both men and women are:

1. Illness or disease – Hair loss could be a sign of being unhealthy. Illnesses such as systemic lupus erythematosis and syphilis, or thyroid disorder have hair loss as a symptom. Chronic kidney dysfunction may also cause hair to fall as it makes hair breakable, dry, and unhealthy.2. Medicinal side effects – Any drugs that contain lithium, beta-blockers, warfarin, heparin, amphetamines, and levodopa (Atamet, Larodopa, Sinemet) may cause significant hair loss. In addition, some cancer medications like doxorubicin may temporary, but rapid, hair loss.3. Hormones – Different kinds of hormones make up the human system and an imbalanced production of those hormones may change the normal growth of hair. One instance of this is the menstrual cycle women go through. Hormonal changes happen in the ovulation period that could cause some hair to fall out, so as thyroid and pituitary disorders.4. Zinc deficiency – Alongside diarrhea and eczema, hair loss appears to be a symptom if someone has not enough intake or if the body poorly absorbs zinc zinc intake, or if it is not absorbed correctly by the body.5. Hair abuses – Excessive changes to hair like corn rows, perming, coloring, bleaching, and usage of curling irons can wear out and over time destroy the hair. Surprisingly, even excessive combing and using strong shampoo may cause moderate hair loss. Combing your hair over a hundred times does not really do anything to make it healthier; contrarily, it will actually reduce the strength of the hair and make it brittle. Shampoos’ powerful chemicals can dry the hair up.6. Giving birth – Close to a month after a woman gives birth, some of her strands of hair have the tendency to fall off easily. Hair strands that break off are usually from one portion of the head, leaving moon crater-like hair. The falling off of hair in this scenario ultimately does not result in baldness and it is not permanent, though the growing back should take up to a year.

These and some other things cause hair loss. There may be a lot of factors, but the good thing is, there are also many medical treatment options. Treating hair loss can be achieved undergoing surgical treatments such as scalp grafting, taking oral medications such as finasteride pills, or using topical applications like ProFollica. These treatments are each different in processes, approaches, requirements, and applications. For instance, hair loss surgery and pills are effective methods that have been proven. But both can only be applied to and taken by men. Surgery is usually recommendable to severe cases of hair loss, and pills like finasteride could cause harmful effects to women. It is speculated that the safest way to address hair loss treatment, for both men and women, is through the application of topical products. This kind of remedy, such as ProFollica, typically is a system. This system contains all-natural ingredients, which means it is safe for anyone’s usage who is experiencing hair loss. As always, It is up to the person and to the doctor, if he/she is consulting one, which treatment he or she would willingly try.Old beliefs, such as cap wearing bringing about hair loss, or combing the hair about one hundred times will make it healthier, have been proven untrue long ago. With the causes and some tips I’ve given above, hopefully one can be smart about choosing the right solutions.
